Once finished, you will need to reboot your Mac for the changes to take affect. In order for these settings to work you'll need to open a Terminal window, copy the "defaults" strings one at a time, paste them into the Terminal window, and then hit ENTER. Everything else works just fine and goes a long way towards speeding up the OS, especially on older hardware. For some reason Apple has changed the way this works in Sierra and last years trick no longer works. The only notable difference being the keyboard repeat rate. Believe it or not, but not much has changed since the last time I wrote a tutorial like this. This time around I'm focusing on Apple's macOS "Sierra" OS.
